Summer Funshine Day Camp

Serving persons of all ages with developmental disabilities.

Funshine serves people in Yancey and surrounding counties including Mitchell, Avery, McDowell, Madison, Buncombe and Henderson.

Years ago we realized folks were being excluded from one of the most important parts of life- fun. This prompted us to join together in prayer to find a solution to this problem. With God's guidance and grace, "Funshine" was born. Funshine has served increasing numbers of campers with disabilities over the years at no cost participants. The good Lord has abundantly supplied all our needs. The first Funshine in 1999 was attended by 12 happy campers. In 2023 over 375 campers came together to celebrate fun, fellowship, and friendship! We have all been blessed beyond our wildest dreams. Our hope is to pass along "Funshine" to more and more folks in our community and beyond. There is no paid staff. We who are blessed to serve as staff proudly wear a tee shirt which states "Paid in Smiles"
